Heyyooo!! guess who’s back, back again:) Something I really enjoy doing is creating new playlist on Spotify. I have this playlist called worship session. You ever get this feeling when you listen to a song and it just hits different. The lyrics and harmony flow so nice and smooth. I get this feeling a lot!! haha you just want to put the song on repeat until you know all the lyrics. I was listening to my playlist on shuffle and a song called “Adonai” by an artist named Chris Renzema popped up. Every time I listen to this song and hear the lyrics, I am constantly reminded that God is my portion. Some of the lyrics are as followed:

“Cause I have nothing to bring

I know I question, I know I doubt

Don’t always hear when You call out to me

Oh Adonai, have mercy on me

But if you’re still up there looking down

There’s only one thing that I need now

Oh Adonai, have mercy on me”

I got a new tattoo in Romania and it says the word Adonai. Adonai is a Hebrew word that translates as “My Lord” showing God as sovereignty over us. I was pondering the thought of getting this tattoo for a very long time. This song is a cry out to God that is a constant and fervent request for God to have mercy on us. Ok, pause, how often do I passionately cry out to God to have mercy on me? the answer – not enough.

Psalms 73:26 says “ my flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever”. My flesh and my heart may fail: I mess up, I sin, I doubt, I have fears. Despite my messiness, God is always there to take me back as I draw near to him. He meets me where I am at because He knows I cannot do it on my own. God knows what I need before I know what I need. I may feel distant from God at times, but He is always near to me. I have nothing to bring to Him, yet He fills me up to where I overflow. He is my portion, my portion forever. God is the one who satisfies more than what is imaginable. He is my source of joy and contentment, He is the reason I wake up rejoicing. He is my all and all, my everything, and He is the strength of my soul forever. In His presence, I have everything that I need.

Joel 2:13 says “ rend your heart and the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow anger, and abounding in steadfast love and he relents over disaster. “ I want to return back to Him, His unwavering love is waiting for me. He is patient and his love for me is unfailing. No matter my disaster, no matter what is holding me back, there is nothing that can keep me from his love. God knows I have nothing to bring, He knows I am tired and He knows I am worn out, but He still wants me and my desire and my presence is enough for Him. He has mercy on me.

In the Lord, mercy and truth connect. They are braided together in the heart of God. Psalms 85:10 says “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.” At salvation, we see both mercy and grace. In His mercy, God forgives sin and withholds the severe punishment we so rightly deserve. His grace includes kindness, compassion, and the gift of unmerited favor. God does not owe us any good thing, but he chooses to pour out grace. Both mercy and grace are found at the foot of the cross, in the sacrifice of Christ. Where sin abounds, grace abounds more. What is goodness? Goodness speaks of a quality of integrity, righteousness and justice that can be trusted. It has a sense of purity, fairness attached to its character. Goodness is not selfish, but always looks out for the needs of others so that they receive kindness and encouragement. Goodness creates an atmosphere of trust, which represents one who is reliable, solid and dependable. The security that comes from those who live lives of goodness will embrace those who are truly in need. This reflects the heart of God the Father and His desires that all humanity would encounter the wonder of His goodness, which results in receiving His blessings.

As we seek to produce the fruit of goodness, we are not guaranteed that life will be easy. A life of goodness is not a life void of problems. In fact, it is in the midst of our challenges that God promises to work out His goodness on our behalf. We choose to live a life of goodness and obedience not for the sake of reward or blessing. Instead, we choose to live from the place of goodness, We choose to be a blessing even despite our circumstances because we are a reflection of the glory of God, and God is GOOD!!!
